Sea Kayak Trip (beginner/Intermediate)

Location: Multiple locations from Torbay to Teignmouth

Start: Various locations

Distance: 16KM

Duration: Full Day

Description:  The River Dart needs no introduction to paddlers, being one of Britains best white waters rivers.

The salt water reaches of the dart are less frequented by other paddlers, but the journey from Totnes out to where the Dart joins the open sea at Dartmouth is reccomended as a beautiful and relatively sheltered trip.

There is plenty of wildlife to be had, with the occasional Seal, Canada Geese, and Egrets.

Around the first bend are the sorry remains of the ‘Kingswear Castle’ lying in the mud, this paddle steamer from 1904 ferried tourists along the Dart and served as a hospital ship in its later years, but then being burned in 1926 to prevent contagion.

there is so much to see on this trip and interesting facts to know, as well as an outstanding paddle.

Experience/Age: An experience of being on the water will be good but not essential, our leaders/coaches will take good care of you.

Under 16s (Please call to discuss)

Sea Kayak Trip (Beginner/Intermediate)

Location: Multiple locations from Teignmouth to Kingswear

Start: Various locations

Distance: Approx 12 - 14KM

Duration: Full Day

Description: A simple launch from the Marina at Kingswear heading out through the many moored boats\yachts and we will come to the mouth of Dartmouth, the River Darts entrance.

We will pass Dartmouth and Kingswear castles, these were built in the 1480s to keep out French sailors, also used to bar Cornishman from landing fishing catches.

Approximately 8kms from Dartmouth to Shoreham point, this stretch is worth prolonging as well as having a lunch break on one of the many sandy beaches we will encounter.

The grey seals around the area are remarkably friendly towards kayakers ( sometimes even climbing onto the back decks ), but please use discretion and sensitivity when approaching, as they may have young seals, depending on the time of year.

There is so much to see on this trip, also a bit of rock hoping and the odd cave to paddle into and explore.

Experience/Age: An experience of being on the water will be good, but not essential.

Our leaders can accommodate for all.
